If pushed for my favourite cocktail in the world, I’ll answer ‘Manhattan’ about 25% of the time. A sweet Manhattan with marischino does just about everything that I need a cocktail to do, upfront complex flavours, long winey finish with a sour cherry longing, which makes me want more!
Glass: Martini
Garnish: Marischino cherry or orange zest
Stir down over large cubes of ice then strain into a chilled glass.
If you prefer your Manhattan dry then replace the sweet vermouth with dry and take out the sugar.
