Continuing with the Venice theme, now I’d like to turn the subject over to coffee.
Firstly let me start by m my experiences of coffee in Italy as a whole. On average I found the quality of espresso to be of a higher standard in the UK, but nothing blew me away. That said, we didn’t [...]

Harry's resized
The story goes that a talented Venecian bartender named Giuseppe Cipriani helped out a chap called Harry from Boston with some sticky money issues (borught about by his drinking habit). A couple of years later Harry returned to Venice much better off and paid back Cipriani five times what he borrowed telling him to set up a bar and call it ‘Harry’s’.

A Couple of Amsterdam’s Greatest Pubs

WindmillI’ve been meaning to go to Belgium for years now and do a really good beer tour, but Amsterdam provided me with more than a little taster of what spending an afternoon drinking some of the worlds best beers could be like.

Bols Amsterdam
I’ve just been to Amsterdam on my stag weekend. The reason I gave no warning about this was because I didn’t know that I was going until I was actually there. I was then walked, driven and flown around until 6 hours later the blindfold was taken off and I was sitting in a bar in Amsterdam*.

Coffees
Will Thornborough invited us up to John Drysdale’s Cafe Kondi today for a barista jam. So myself, Hugo and Jack (Luke to Hugo’s Obi-Wan - i’m more of a Han Solo…) got in the car and took the perilous drive out of county up t’north… *shudder*

After a quick breafast stop where we bore witness to some milk being boiled repeatedly, we eventually made it to Bristol at around 12.30.

Smirnoff Bar spoons
Just got back from an exhausting couple of days spent in two cities, both new to me.
On Saturday I drove through a Cornish blizzard (light snow storm) to Urban Beach Hotel in Bournemouth, I was doing training with Jimmy and his bartenders on the Monday but we met up a day before to travel down to Brighton together for the vodka leg of the Reserve Brands World Class Bartender competition.
