Six months down the line and from out of the blue – myself and brewtus have hit the first bump in our otherwise perfect relationship.
The digital temperature controller on the front (see it working below) has ceased to function, meaning that I am left with a rather shiny, expensive kettle. Metaphorically speaking, my espresso machine is brain dead, a vegetable, the lights are on, but there is no one at home.
This is of course a known problem, the controller unit was apparently designed for use in a refrigerator, so it’s hardly suprising that it has given up the ghost, what with the large flucutuations in temperature it’s subjected to.
But that is no consolation for the large void now present within my life, looks like I’ll have to start going to Relish again twice a day for my espresso fix.
EDIT: Well thumbs up to Bella Barista, I had the postman knocking on the door thismorning only about 15 hours after I had phoned for the PID. All fitted and working fine… but how long for? Need to come up with a long term solutin me thinks.

Hi Tristan,
Moral of the story mate, is get a good machine……….
if you need any help ?
you know were we are………
Thanks Jas,
Hopefully it should be straight forward fitting the new controller. It’s a decent machine when it’s working and in any case you don’t do a plus4u compact!!

Oh you poor thing! You make it sound awful… still, desperate needs… desperate measures.
Barista Boy’s on tomorrow, he might pull you something vaguely drinkable.
If you’re really nice to him.
If you have any problems bring it down here and Mark will fix it for you.
Things are starting to take shape with the roastery so we should arrange a time for you and Hugo to visit.
Thanks, just spoke to Bella Barista and they are sending me a new controller with 50% dicount despit the machine being out of waranty.
They think the problem is something to do with voltage, i’d be interested to know what Mark thinks?
Looking forward to playing with your expensive toys!
