Looking Forward to Caffè Culture
This time next week I’ll be in London setting up for Caffè Culture which is taking place on May 21st & 22nd at Olympia. Caffè Culture is probably the biggest event in the UK coffee calendar, seminars and workshops from the SCAE, stands from every major manufacturer of equipment, plenty of coffee to drink and lots of people to chat to.
I really enjoyed Caffè Culture last year when I travelled up with the chaps form Origin and I’m really honoured to be working on the CMA stand this year with Plus 4 You. We’re going to be doing the usual demonstrations, knocking out some latte art as well as showing off some of the cool features on Plus 4 You such as the energy saving modes and brew temp control. If you’re at CC make sure you pop along and say hello, bring some coffee along too a/ so I guzzle it down b/ so we can dial in the brew temp for it and see if we can’t make the most out of it.
The SCAE will be putting on a few competitions with the chance for a free trip to Copenhagen in June for SCAE’s Wonderful Coffee event. I originally intended on having a go at all three competitions: Cupping, Latte Art and Coffee in Good Spirits. That however, would have taken up nearly all my time so I’m just going to go for CIGS, which, as everyone keeps telling me, should be one of my strengths really – brace yourselves for disappointment… Coffee In Good Spirits requires you make two Irish Coffees (yep, I hate them too) and two signature drinks, more info on my alcoholic signature drink after the event.
Hopefully i’ll get the chance to see some workshops as well, Jim’s Advanced Barista skills workshop was a highlight last year.
Glad you enjoyed last year’s workshop. I am doing another one but haven’t really decided completely on how it run. Very espresso focused I think.
I am looking forward to going along this year - first time I will not be working a booth so I might actually get to see some of the show, unlike last year where I was either teaching or steaming and pulling a lot of shots.
If there is any coffee left over from my workshop I will bring it down for you.
