After two years loyal service I have handed my notice in at Fifteen Cornwall and will shortly be moving on to work as a Brand Ambassador for Reserve Brands (Diageo).

Fifteen View

I joined Fifteen as part of the initial team who set up the restaurant, my aim was to set up the best restaurant bar in the South West of England. I think we achieved this, with a seasonal locally sourced cocktail list, homemade soft drinks, and of course a high standard of espresso based coffee (and later brewed coffee). Fifteen was the place where I really developed my love for coffee, in part thanks to Tom Sobey and Origin and with strict local sourcing policies Fifteen makes you work pretty hard to write a decent drinks list.

Two years is a long time to be cleaning the same speed-rail though so it’s time to move on. I’m leaving behind a great team of bartenders, Ralph and Sam in particular are surely two of the most capable baristas and cocktail barmen in the area, good luck to them in whatever they do!

Since i’m not yet working for Diageo i’ve not a lot to say other than the job is amazing as I will be spending a lot of time training and talking about the Reserve Brand spirits, which include Tanqueray, Don Julio, Bulleit, and also organising competitions and events in the South West. It will hopefully open up many exciting opportunities for me.

coffee? Have no fear, I will be fitting a nice shiny espresso machine into my kitchen shortly, I was never really a fan of the microwave or toaster anyway!
