With only about 10 days until the Semi-Finals of this years UKBC kick off, i’ve spent a lot of time thinking about signature drinks recently.
Now, I realise blogging about competition is a bit of a weird one. Nobody wants to give away their secret weapon, risk letting slip what blends they’re using, or (heaven forbid) let on what water glasses we’re using, plus we’re all far too busy practicing or counting teaspoons to even have time to write about it. Except for me, i’m sick of counting teaspoons right now.
I’m told that tonights episode is the rhubarb one and that my cocktail, which made an appearance in the accompanying book, may be on the show. Check it out on Channel 4 at 8pm.

An Interesting little article with a great timeline of coke advertising all the way from 1906 to present day. I love some of the earlier ads, the first one is probably my favourite, it’s also interesting that the price didn’t go up from 5 cents for years.
Perhaps the original coffee geek, Dr Illy headed Illycaffe for almost 60 years and in that time took coffee to the next level through exploring espresso chemistry, development and research into coffee. For more info see SCAE.
