Eden Coffee Project Summary
Just a short post to say that the media surrounding eden coffee yesterday went very well. It was just nice to see some coffee get so much attention really, this photo sums it up nicely i think…
The story gets a write up in todays Saturday guardian (p19), check it out if you get a chance. It will also be on local ITV Westcountry news and in papers next week.
As a summary I think the project was a great success.
The goal was not to make an amazing cup of coffee, but to do something different with coffee, experience the processing part which so often gets overlooked. I also wanted to produce a drink which from the absolute outset (other than planting) was picked, processed, roasted and brewed by us, all the way from crop to cup. The opportunities to do this are few and far between, but being fortunate enough to have the Eden project nearby meant the chance had to be taken.
I hope that within the industry this project has been received well, it’s not intended as a ‘food miles’ or local sourcing experiment, just a chance to have a play with something not normally available to us and to see the outcome first hand. Thanks to all who have commented and given opinion, special mentions to Tom Sobey, Stuart Hargie of Masteroast for use of his moisture reader and advice, Craig & Hetty from Eden and the guys behind my bar for caring for the beans like a newly born child!
