A 1/2 Day In London
I’ve been up to London and back today.
The main reason for going was filming a feature for Market Kitchen. The feature was on homemade soft drinks and I did a 4 minute slot demonstrating how to make your own cola using fresh ingredients as we do in the restaurant. The recipe is not currently up on the blog but I will do a little section for homemade soft drinks when I get time. Matt Tebbut and Tom Parker-Bowles were hosting the show this time and they are both very nice blokes as is everyone else who works there.
I think the show goes out on 4th January but i’ll confirm closer to the time.
After finishing at Optomen studios I took a quick trip over to Fifteen London where they kindly fed me an excellent antipasti! Had a quick chat with Alex the head harman and Paul the head sommelier, good to see that they were very busy!
Finally on the way back to Paddington I had just about enough time to pop into the much talked about ‘Flat White’ cafe. Just off Oxford street this little place is rumored to serve one of the highest standards of espresso based drinks in London. It’s obvious that Flat White is popular it was quite busy in there and the customers seemed to be they type that appreciate a good cup of coffee and staff seemed to appreciate that the customers appreciate good coffee.
I ordered a large espresso which was given to me in a paper cup because they were shutting down for a function. None the less the espresso tasted good, very dark crema, nice body to it, fruity with a sort of burnt caramel finish which i’m not sure was pleasurable or not! Forgot to ask what blend they were using. Overall, if I lived in London, i’d probably drink coffee there.
They use Monmouth Espresso Tristan, I love the vibe in there its very cool.
Looking forward to the market kitchen appearance keep us posted
