UKBC Practice
Hugo and I ventured down to Origin in Falmouth today. We met up with Tom (and Jenna, his missus) for a practice session today in preparating for the SW heat of the UKBC on Wednesday.
Boot full of stuff

We both did a run through of our presentations which went quite smoothly though we picked out a few things that need tidying up, especially useful for me since I haven’t competed before. We also had a go at judging which is very interesting and gets you really thinking about the score sheets which, at the end of the day, is what it’s all about (if you want to win).
My shot times could do with being more consistent, though all were within the 20-30 sec bar one they could do with being closer together. My sig drink is very tasty, as was Hugos but I have a couple of bits to iron out before Wednesday, should be cool though. My capps were a bit milky but nothing major and could do with being a tad hotter.

So overall i’m feeling confident about the heat and really just looking forward to mingling with other coffee geeks! Thinking about going up to the Midlands or Bristol heats as well to check out the competition! We also tried a Tanzanian blend which to me was a bit unbalanced with very little acidity but a good body to it, and an El Salvador which was very tasty indeed with all the body and a good balance, i’d really like to look into it a bit more for the finals… if I make it.
