Next Up…
Anyone who knows what I get up to at work will know that i’m really in to making soft drinks at the moment. The cola & tonic water which I now sell was the next logical step on from making cocktails and although it’s a lot more involved and in both cases requires plenty of prep before service, it’s also highly rewarding.
Next up i’m going to extend the range. First on the list is lemonade, easy I hear you cry but I intend to use sugar syrup infused with vanilla & ginger along with lemon juice & zest. I reckon this’ll be a nice sweet aromatic lemonade with the traditional fruity qualities. Second on the list, and one that i’ve been thinking about for a while is Dandelion & Burdock. D&B is one of my favourite childhood drinks but as everyone knows, even the so called proper stuff contains VERY little or no dandelion or burdock roots. As with the tonic water it’s going to be a guessing game involving a bit of experimentation.
I’ve ordered some new ingredients and await their arrival, in the meantime I think I need to get a spice rack!

I recently moved to the USA and have a craving for Dandelion and Burdock which i cant get anywhere. I came accross dried dandelion root and dried burdock root in a health food shop a few days ago. i was wondering if your cola syrup method would work for making a D&B syrup from the dried roots?
